praelocutio.exordium.prolusio

A conference series dedicated to urgent-pressing-pertinent questions in music and related artistic disciplines.

FOR:

Emerging and established practitioners, researchers, theorists, and artists working in music and related artistic disciplines.

HOW:

Through monthly themed conferences shaped by selected speakers from among the applicants, creating a space for presentation, critical dialogue, interdisciplinary exchange, and the further development of ideas through discussion, reflection, and possible publication.

praelocutio.exordium.prolusio is a series of online conferences addressing current, pressing questions in music and related artistic disciplines. Structured around preset monthly themes, the programme provides a platform for presentation, critical dialogue, and interdisciplinary exchange, bringing together practitioners, theorists, researchers, and artists working across different fields.

Applicants may participate either as speakers or as auditors, with auditors taking an active role in the discussions and exchanges following the presentations.

A key feature of the series is that speakers are selected from among the applicants, allowing the programme to function both as a conference platform and as an open framework through which emerging and established voices can present their work, questions, and positions in public. For each edition, up to five speakers are selected from the applicant pool to contribute presentations related to the monthly theme.

Applicants are invited to approach each theme broadly, whether through artistic practice, theoretical reflection, research, case study, critical position, or infrastructural experience.

In this way, the series supports the articulation, public presentation, discussion, and further development of ideas through presentation, dialogue, and collective reflection.

Selected participants from each session are also invited to take part in Bled Contemporary Music Week, where they present their work in the form of a lecture. Selected presentations may additionally be published in the annual edition of the Verso Doxa and Journal of New Music Research and Development.
